Deb's Dogs is a non profit 501-c-3 organization. We depend on donations and adoption fees to fund our animals vet care. Most of the dogs that come into our care come from The Allen County Dog Warden Facility. Usually the dogs we take from the shelter are the ones that need extra attention. The animals may have been neglected, abused or injured. Once we take the dogs they go to the vet for a complete checkup. If they are healthy enough at this time they are vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Sometimes we have to wait awhile for this due to the condition of the animal. Deb's Dogs works with Oakwood Correctional Facility and their dog harbor program. This is an excellent training program where an inmate takes a dog for a period of time and works with the animal on basic commands, house training and socialization. It is a great experience for the dog and the inmate. They learn from each other and the inmates take a lot of time and effort with these dogs.. Since we do not have a facility this program is an important part of our rescue.
